sketchdump...

Maybe some of you already heard about Facebook's new Terms of Service, which pays no "compensation" to those pictures released or shared through Facebook or Instagram using for advertisements and such.  Imagine them earning millions of dollars by "stealing" my and many other talented artists images without compensating us.  I am not very happy about this, and I will not use Facebook or Instagram to show my art.  I will link you to this blog from Facebook though, so, worry not people.  You will still see me around.  But anyway, here's some sketches I've done, along with some projects for school.

Enjoy!

And here's a progress GIF of my digital painting environment final.

And this is my shader programming final.  I had to replace one of the models (city or roads) with a 3D one using Houdini to make it look realistic.  I'm not happy with the final result, but this will do for now.

some sketches and WIP

in case you didn't know, WIP = work in progress.
here are some sketches and assignments from my classes.
i've been updating my sketches frequently on Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter.

a pegasus that doesn't have wings big enough to fly... WIP (digital painting)

and here's a dolphin... i like dolphins.

this was an emulation assignment and i had to emulate an artist's style while creating my own character.  i emulated Simon Loche, a european comic book artist.  i find his style fascinating, and very unorthodox to mine, so it was definitely a good exercise.  i recommend artists to emulate masters, so they can draw better.  it works for me!

a fun progress picture of my first assignment from the digital painting class from Sam Neilson.  i highly recommend taking a class from him.  he has so much knowledge and talent.

and this is my environment assignment for the final in sam's class.  so far, i need to work on the rocks, and figure out how to render the foliage and everything else around it.

i hope you enjoyed this post.  don't forget, follow me on Instagram, Tumblr or Twitter to receive more frequent updates of my sketches.

new sketchbook!

started a new sketchbook... there's no better way than starting with "master" copies of my inspirations.  Joe Olson and Skottie Young are one of the two biggest influences on my drawings.

and... here's a carrot i made using Houdini for my shader programming class.  i'm not quite satisfied with the result, and i think I'll work on it some more to make it more photorealistic.  i think i'm going for the dry carrot instead of a wet one this time.

african tribal sci-fi character

this was an assignment from ryan woodward's character design class.  we will do this exercise again, and i really like how i'm learning the design process by doing silhouettes and negative space.
